November 5, 2009

Second Base Youth Shelter’s (SBYS) Community Garden Program is seeking qualified and impassioned volunteers to fill administrative and program development positions here at SBYS, as soon as possible. We offer volunteers the opportunity to be a part of a growing community garden capacity building program that focuses on meaningful life skills and employment training for the youth SBYS serves.

SBYS is looking for a team of volunteers with previous experience that will enable the furthering of program capacity building!

A list of specific projects that we would like volunteer positions to approach is detailed below:

• the development of an in-kind donations list

• program evaluation of our various community garden projects (ie. tracking data):

SBYS composting project

SBYS vegetable and herb garden project

SBYS cooking and harvesting project

SBYS food preservation project

SBYS in-door sprout growing project

• conducting youth focus groups

• conducting and/or facilitating drop-in food security/urban agriculture workshops

• grant writing
