Position: Greenhouse Operations and Sales Coordinator
Type: full-time, 9 month position [YEIP eligibility, details below]

FoodCycles is offering a 9 month, full time Greenhouse
Operations and Sales Coordinator position.
In this dynamic position, approximately 60% of your time you will:
- Growing micro-greens, sprouts and salad and maintaining records
- Worm husbandry including feeding, watering, harvesting the castings
- Participate in our compost endeavors and monitor our outdoor compost piles
- Sowing and tending to raised beds
- Washing, cooling, and packaging produce for sale
- Sales and delivery of produce
- Support our educational programming by leading tours,
working with volunteers and attending workshop
- Assistance with CSA pick ups, market garden and CSA planning
40% of your time will be spent:
- Assist with business development of our farm, attracting new
local and restaurant customers
- Maintaining current business relationships
- Development of a marketing plan for our farmer’s market and
implementing that plan to increase business
- Creating marketing tools such as pamphlets, price lists,
brochures and campaigns to increase awareness of both our
project and produce
- Maintain tool inventory and library, ensuring that the
greenhouse and it’s tools and resources are kept clean
and orderly
Special Requirements:
- Interest and enthusiasm about food growing
- Willingness to be involved in field work.
- Proper clothing and footwear suitable for field work
- Access to a computer and Internet
Minimum Qualifications:
- Post Graduate education in a related field
- Experience and basic theoretical knowledge in organic and
sustainable food production systems.
- Demonstrated success in sales and marketing
- At least an entire season on a farm or garden project
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Experience with data entry and processing
- Experience coordinating and working with volunteers
FoodCycles offers an opportunity to:

commercially and in retail environment such as Farmer’s Markets
- Learn hands on agricultural skills while playing a critical role
in the management and development of a start up urban farm
- Learn and develop greenhouse skills, bed preparation and
seeding, transplanting, mulching, cultivation, harvesting,
weeding, vegetable preparation, packaging and distribution
- Learn the basic issues and challenges facing sustainable and
organic agriculture in an urban context
- Learn and develop various methods and strategies for growing
vegetables organically
- Learn and develop various methods and strategies for growing
and maintaining a vermi-composting system.

This position is being funded through the Youth Eco
Internship Program (YEIP)*. This program places unemployed
people aged 15 to 30 from diverse backgrounds into paid
internship opportunities within the non-profit and community
services sector in Canada with a focus on the environment.
These positions, offered in a wide range of organizations,
will help young Canadians learn the skills required to gain
and sustain future employment within the sector.
This project is a collaboration between the YMCA and YWCA
Canada, with funding provided by the Government of Canada’s
